Star Industries Storage Rentals

Star Storage is located right next to Star Industries’ main building. The Star "campus" is on highway M-28, about two miles east of the US 41/M-28 intersection in Harvey (a "suburb" south of Marquette). Star Storage has two types of buildings ...

The photo above shows Star’s two 40’x100’ (by 14-foot high) "barns". These buildings are for storing boats, cars, RVs, trucks, parade floats, and what-have-you. The buildings are weather-tight but ventilated -- neither snow nor rain (nor birds) get inside, but even on a hot summer day the temperature doesn’t soar too high inside. The floors are of re-ground highway pavement (not concrete, which might be hard on the tires of vehicles parked for months at a time during cold weather), so any liquids that might drip off one of the vehicles will soak away, not form puddles or damage other people’s vehicles. The buildings are designed to safely protect your belongings from the elements, from vandals and thieves, and from vermin or birds. Rental rates are determined by the amount of room used. That is, Star charges $2.50 per running foot of length of the vehicle (including the tongue of the trailer, the bumper of the RV, and so on) per month (i.e., storing a 16-foot long car costs the renter $40/month; a 33-foot sailboat costs $82.50/month, etc). It is assumed that your vehicle is physically capable of going down the highway, so it therefore is less than eight feet wide and less than 14 feet tall. If you need further details, call or email Star.

In the summer Star Storage rents space in these buildings to students. Many of them prefer to store their dorm or apartment furniture during the summer. The basic storage deal for them is this: Star places four wooden shipping pallets on the floor (about a 7’ x 8’ area is created), and the student puts mini-fridge, loft parts, futon cushion, computer desk, boxes of goods, and so on -- on the pallets. Students often cover the items with a plastic tarp or blanket, too. The student remits $150 for this space and leaves town for the summer. In the fall the student picks up all of his items and gets a $50 refund (Star doesn’t need any more futons or mini-fridges -- take everything and get your deposit back!). The $100 rental fee is for the entire summer, flat rate. Renters do not get a key -- Star employees supervise move in and move out, so goodies aren’t vandalized or stolen by others as they move in or out. It’s a bargain, and many students use this year after year. Please call or email for further details.

Star's Storage Unit
Star Storage mini-storage units are much like any other mini-storage units, so no great amount of detail will be offered here. Star has 6'x10' and 10'x12' units, each with 24-hour access ... and the renter gets his own key. Each unit has steel walls to the ceiling (not wire mesh) and a concrete floor. No unit deposit or key deposit is charged. Credit cards are accepted, as is cash or most other forms of payment.
